Career Coaching

For candidates interested in receiving personalized one-on-one assistance, we offer a career coaching service through our web site. We’ve helped hundreds of candidates since 2001 to reach their career goals in the Medical or Pharmaceutical industries.
Here are some of the common questions that we get asked by candidates using this service:

  • I’m a Pharmaceutical Sales Representative interested in medical sales but I’ve heard that medical companies won’t hire pharmaceutical representatives. Is this true? What are the medical companies looking for? Can I make this transition?

  • I graduated college three years ago and I’ve always wanted to be a pharmaceutical/medical sales representative. Based on my resume, what do I need to do to get one of these jobs?

  • I’ve been a nurse/attorney/plumber/circus performer/teacher (every career background you can imagine) for the past ten years and I’m ready for a career change. Do I have a chance to get a job in one of these industries?

  • I’ve submitted my resume to all of the major company web sites but no one is calling me. What do I need to do?

  • Why have some of my friends been able to find a position, yet I’m more qualified, and I can’t seem to get in?

  • What are the medical or pharmaceutical companies looking for?

  • What are the “key points” that other candidates have on their resume that I seem to be missing?

  • I know that I can be very successful in the medical or pharmaceutical industries, what do I need to do to get an opportunity to show it?

If you’ve attempted to transition into either the medical or pharmaceutical industries, we don’t have to tell you how competitive it is to find a position. These industries are prestigious, they pay well, and they’re as close to “recession proof” as any out there. The median age of our population is increasing as the baby boomers get older, patients need their medications to stay healthy, and hospitals need supplies to keep their doors open.

We receive as many as 300 resumes a day and unfortunately many candidates just don’t understand what the medical or pharmaceutical companies are looking for. Is it your resume? Is it your education? Is it your experience level?

What our career coaching service is

  • It’s one-on-one personalized time in which we offer career assistance, answer your questions, and provide you with advice and recommendations regarding what you need to do to find a position in the pharmaceutical or medical industries.

  • It’s a tool to assist you with preparation for interviews. Much of what we do with this service is to help you prepare for how to answer questions that you’re likely to be asked in a Medical or Pharmaceutical interview.

  • As part of this service, we provide you with a copy of our candidate preparation booklet. This booklet provides you with helpful web sites, a list of questions commonly asked during these interviews, and ideas regarding how to conduct your search.
What our career coaching service isn’t

  • It isn’t a guarantee that you will find a position in the medical or pharmaceutical industries after using our coaching service. We can provide you with helpful advice and recommendations, but we can’t change your background, education, or qualifications.

  • It isn’t a resume writing service. We make resume recommendations and answer questions regarding your resume, but we do not rewrite your resume. Our experience has taught us that the best person to write your resume is you. In general, we do not recommend resume writing services.

The cost of our career coaching service is $49.00 for a 30-45 minute session. Candidates are pleasantly surprised by how much we can accomplish during this time. You can sign-up for additional time if needed. Because career counseling is generally regarded as a job search expense, it’s normally viewed as a tax deductible item (consult your tax preparer). If we successfully place you with one of our hiring companies, we will provide you with a full refund for the service.

We possess 15 years of expertise in regard to what it takes to be successful in today’s competitive pharmaceutical & medical industries. We look forward to sharing this knowledge and expertise and helping you to achieve your goals in these industries.

Thank you for all of the helpful suggestions regarding the changes to my resume. It seems that I’ve done a lot more than I was giving myself credit for! I now feel a lot more confident about sending my resume to prospective pharmaceutical employers. I’ll be recommending your service to a couple of my friends that are also ready to make a career change.

II’ve had some bad experiences with recruiters in the past, so I was a little apprehensive when I signed-up for your career coaching service. I must say that I was pleasantly surprised. You were highly professional and you made me feel completely comfortable about my non-traditional background. Your suggestions about how to answer some of the interview questions was extremely helpful. It will be difficult to work with other recruiters after working with you. I am glad that I found you!

I’ve been a Pharmaceutical Sales Representative the past 5 years. Although I’ve enjoyed my job, I recently realized that a medical sales position was probably a better fit for my skill sets and career goals. I was concerned because I had always heard that this was a difficult transition. With your help and advice, I’m pleased to inform you that this morning, I accepted an offer for a surgical sales position. I’m not sure that I could have done it without you. Thank you for all of your assistance.

My sister is a Pharmaceutical Sales Representative so I knew what I wanted to do ever since my first year of college. After graduating, I went through the normal routine of sending my resume to all of the major companies, and even had a few interviews. Unfortunately, I could never seem to get beyond the first round of interviews and I didn’t know why. What I learned from our sessions was how to better prepare for interviews and how to successfully separate myself from other candidates. Through better preparation, I finally made it to the final interview, and will be starting my new job in three weeks. Without the assistance that you gave me, it’s possible that I might have gone for years unsuccessfully interviewing, and never knowing why. I highly recommend your career coaching.

Although I’ve been successful in my career thus far, interviewing has never been one of my strengths. My problem is that I tend to get a little wordy when I answer questions. Your suggestion about making a list of the likely interview questions on my computer, and then forming concise answers was priceless. I had an interview today with a small medical company and my answers were so succinct that I felt like I was role playing. Thank you for listening and identifying my individual needs, and helping me with a solution.

I’m an RN and worked in the hospital for four years. During those years, I observed and spoke with many different pharmaceutical and medical sales reps. I always knew in the back of my mind that a sales career was something of interest to me, and something that I thought I could do well. After a friend recommended you, I called and you were able to make some helpful and insightful recommendations. I listened, applied what you told me, and successfully found a medical OR sales position six months later. I’m pleased to say that after two years in this position, I love what I do. Calling you was one of the best career decisions I ever made. Your guidance positioned me, and gave me the confidence to make this transition a successful one.

I graduated from college last year and have been trying to get into pharmaceutical sales ever since. The advice that I received from the career coaching was highly educational and informative. I would sincerely recommend it to anyone interested in finding a sales job in the pharmaceutical or medical fields.
